This is our 504. We call it the "Beater." It came with a genuine IHC 33 loader. Both have had a hard life, but Mike has massaged them into sound mechanical shape. From the looks of the 'injuries' the 504 has sustained, Mike is of the opinion that it's been 'rubber side up' at least once. Indeed, this suspicion was confirmed by the grandson of the previous owner; he is aware of the 504 being upside down twice and suspects there were more incidents than that. We have decided, at least for now, not to restore the 504. We need a tractor that you don't have to worry about scuffing the paint when using it. Joe learned this the hard way when skidding logs a few years ago with the 460. An interesting story to the 504 is that it was purchased a few years back from our neighbor just over the hill who bought this tractor new.

On December 23, 2004 we got hit with a severe ice storm the likes of which we've never seen. The Farm, and Mike and Joe's place got whacked pretty hard resulting in scads of down branches, limbs and whole trees. On the day after Christmas, Mike and Fred brought the 504 over to Joe's for area clean up. The loader with its manure bucket is amazingly adept at shoving up a pile of brush, stabbing it and carting it off for disposal. It doesn't get it all, but 90% of the brush can be handled by the 504 without leaving the seat. Sure saves on hand labor!
The 504 uses the same sized 152 CID engine as the H, but higher compression and a 2200 RPM rating allow the 504 to make 46 BHP. The 504 succeeded the Farmall 340 of the -60 series family.
